Saudi-funded LIV Golf will be going to three courses owned by former President Donald Trump as part of a 14-event schedule in 2023. The rival league previously said it would open its season Feb. 24-26 at the Mexican golf resort of Mayakoba, which formerly hosted a PGA Tour stop. The full schedule, according to SI.com, includes Trump National in northern Virginia (May 26-28) and Trump National Doral near Miami (Oct. 20-22) The developments come a week after a television partnership with The CW, which the weekend rounds will be available in the U.S. and on the CW network’s app in the United Kingdom and in the Middle East. The Daily Telegraph quoted European tour CEO Keith Pelley as saying he and Pga Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan have recused themselves as Official World Golf Ranking board members from any discussion on whether LIV should get world ranking points. It typically takes a year before a new circuit joins the OWGR system, and LIV’s league of 54-hole events with no cuts falls short of some of theOWGR guidelines, Pelley told the Daily Telegraph in the UK. The LIV board also is losing its managing director, Majed Al-Sorour, who was seen as one of the key negotiators in signing players to the LIV circuit. He is leaving his post but will still be on the L IV board. The CW has not commented on the reports.
